How to improve contrast of the skin in few seconds

Today I want to give you a little hint how to improve skin contrast in a few seconds using Unsharp Mask.
In fact, there are plenty of ways to improve the contrast, I will show you only the fastest. You are free to use it in a post-processing or not.

So we have a picture of a beautiful girl Namrata. This is a photo as it came out from the camera.

1. Duplicate the layer

2. Go to the Filter – Sharpen – Unsharp Mask
The trick here is to set the Radius to comlete Right — to 250, and the Amount to full left.
Then we start to rise the Amount untill we get the result we need.
Usually it’s not more then 10-20.

You see how the skin getting more contrast?
White part getting more bright, and the dark part getting more dark. This is what we need!

But the problem is… it has affected the entire image, but we need only the skin of the face and hands.
Now we fix it fast.

3. Hold the Alt key (Alt on PC or Option on Mac) and click on Layer mask button to create a layer mask.

We clicked with Alt — it means we are hiding all that we have done before.

4. Now Pick up the soft brush

5. Now using the brush, paint on the mask only those parts of the body, to which you want to apply the contrast.

And that’s it!

This is my result:

I hope you enjoyed How to improve contrast of the skin in few seconds post.
